About our Science Curriculum and Instruction

Our science program is based on the National Science Education Standards, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, Benchmarks for Science Literacy, and other publications from Project 2061.  We approach science using unifying concepts: constancy and change, systems, patterns, properties, and models, and form and function.

Quality science instruction is dependent on giving students experiences in science that pique their curiosity and get them interested in science.  Students are encouraged to ask questions, safely use scientific equipment, collect and interpret data, make observations, organize finding, and draw valid conclusions.   Hands-on experiences are fundamental for concept development in science, and the discussions students and teachers have are essential for science literacy.
