About our Science Curriculum and Instruction

Our science program is based on the National Science Education Standards, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, Benchmarks for Science Literacy, and other publications from *Project 2061.  We approach science using unifying concepts: constancy and change, systems, patterns, properties and models, and form and function.

Quality science instruction is dependent on giving student experiences in science that pique their curiosity and interest in science. Students are encouraged to ask questions, safely use scientific equipment, make observations, organize findings, and draw valid conclusions. Hands-on experiences are fundamental for concept development in science and the discussions students and teacher have are essential for science literacy.
