Texas Transition and Employment guide-English and Spanish Version

TEA has created a document that outlines Transition Services and resources for students in special education. This document offers guidance and suggestions on steps to take to help your student progress to have the skills necessary to reach thier post-secondary and employment goals. Transition planning is an ongoing processes that includes a  course of study, coordinated set of activities and goals that students strive to complete by the time they graduate high school. Areas of transition planning include: Independent Living, Post-Secondary Education and Training, Social/Recreation and Leisure, Activities of Daily living,  Life Long Learning and Connection to resources/agencies. Before a student turns 14 years old (or earlier if appropriate), I start working with the student and the family on each of these areas to ensure that they have the skills and resources they will need for their adult life. 

TEA ha creado un documento que describe los servicios y recursos de transición para estudiantes en educación especial. Este documento ofrece orientación y sugerencias sobre los pasos a seguir para ayudar a que su estudiante progrese y tenga las habilidades necesarias para alcanzar sus metas postsecundarias y laborales. La planificación de la transición es un proceso continuo que incluye un curso de estudio, un conjunto coordinado de actividades y metas que los estudiantes se esfuerzan por completar cuando se gradúan de la escuela secundaria. Las áreas de planificación de la transición incluyen: vida independiente, educación y capacitación postsecundarias, recreación y recreación social, actividades de la vida diaria, aprendizaje permanente y conexión con recursos / agencias. Antes de que un estudiante cumpla 14 años (o antes si corresponde), comienzo a trabajar con el estudiante y la familia en cada una de estas áreas para asegurarme de que tengan las habilidades y los recursos que necesitarán para su vida adulta.
